It's official, I have a daughter that is two syllables old!!

Yup, Emma made it to the ripe age of SEV-EN.
She had a fantastic bday (and shared it nicely with her daddy who turned 40!). She had SUCH a great day (aka cake/cupcakes /dinners out) that her belly hurt to much to finish bday cake at night!LOL!
Emma had a few friends over for a Rock and Roll party. I really think I have a budding rock star. She TOTALLY knows how to work the crowd AND the microphone!!

The final countdown!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't that a survivor song?? It was playing in my head as I typed that!
Sooooooooo...just about 2 days until:
Emma hits 7!! YIKES!
Dave turns 40! Holy crap!!!
Wow...seriously ..wow!
Oh and 3 days til the final Satin Jones show at the Small Planet in East lansing, you SHOULD be there for Dave!!!

So here's one more example of why I'll be getting phone calls from Pville schools in about 15 mths:

Lucky: Hey Mommy, when I'm all grown up, you can call me a different name!
Me: Oh yeah, Like mr. G?
Lucky: Well, you can still call me Lucky or Lukey, cause I'll still be cute!

WOW...just wow..! That kid is a crack up. Not to mention his random:
Hey Mommy, I gotta tell you something:
I REALLY LOVE YOU!

(totally unprompted)
Let me just say: GIRLS of Class of 2023 at Pville, be prepared, he's gonna work it good!!!!!!!!!!

Rock and Roll!!

Emma's 7th bday is just SEVEN days away!
So in honor of her bday, I made bday invites ala my style, which includes pics of the bday girl!

On the back we taped a little version of "we rock" from camp rock inviting kids to her bday party. I think it was pretty good, if I say so myself!!:)

Should be an INTERESTING bday party to say the least, Emma wants everyone to dance and sing and have others judge them...yeah.....I see possible tears!!

ON the Lucky front:
1. He cut some hair while cutting out Max and Ruby dollars in his room ,unbeknownst (is that a word?) to me!

2. He told me today he's not OLD, he's new, and wanted to know if Emma was OLD. I wonder what that makes ME?

3. He actually got somewhere near a giraffe this week, pretty proud of that one.

4. He's getting a bit courageous on breaking rules, time for the crackdown!

Baby it's hot outside....

Whew..it was sweltering this week but I still managed to take the kids to a park AND help coach Emmie's baseball (coach pitch, though I didn't pitch!) team!
I love the pictures I put on today, well the black and white one mostly. It was from about a week ago, we had went to the same playground (Delta mills) that we went to this week and it was SUPER hot and
sweaty that day too!

Ahhh...summertime....

Yup,

On vacation. Can ya tell?

Came home from the movies to two packages:

Some new sandals (thanks http://www.landsend.com/). and some new sea salt scrub from http://www.arbonne.com/ . I love this scrub and so do my feet! After reviewing all the close ups, it's apparent my feet need a trip to douglas j salon for a lovely pedicure!

Ahhh..summer break! One of the biggest benefits of being a teacher!

So what else is

new around here?

Well...we've got a bit of an infestation....

Did you see how there's a gnick on a stick? And Gneil the keeper of the birds? how about that sneaky gnome lazily hiding? Or the hardworking wheelbarrow one? Yes, there's the two finding anything to do but work, or is it a great father son learning moment?..They're everywhere! Apparently they are reproducing or something.....

It's a bit gnarly huh?

And finally,
I have to share a battle that goes on between Lucky and his daddy. Well, there's TWO battles, the first is how the pillows are arranged on the couch and chair. We have 3 brown pillows and 2 red patterned pillows, they each prefer it a different way. So here's the other battle. The solar house number. Lucky likes his numbers close together, daddy, spread apart....Guess who's winning???

Luckyisms...

Well, I'll have to edit this to add more, but here's a great one from breakfast!!

I had made Lucky waffles for breakfast and toast for me. Lucky had a placemat on the kitchen table from last night, I did not..
Lucky REALLY likes things in order, things out of order are NOT good for him!
So he says, "Mom you NEED a placemat."
Me, "No, I'm okay bud, it's just toast."
Lucky, "NO you NEED a placemat mommy."
Me, "Okay that's fine."
Lucky goes to get me one.
"Mommy, I got you a spongebob one because I really love you."

So apparently spongebob is now LOVE..

Freedom!!!!

So,

many of you might know that our children are NOT small in stature!
So last year we thought, hey Emmie needs a bigger bike right? WRONG! Not the smartest move (keeping that one in the back of the noggin for the boy!!)

Last year we went through what seemed like a dozen sets of training wheels. We also tried the "tag along" bike to help her gain confidence.

We had NOT gotten down the big bike (and of COURSE we gave away the littler one!) this spring (is it really spring yet?) but daddy did today!
Well, low and behold, FIRST time out she did it! NO TRAINING WHEELS! SHe's

OFF and RUNNING, or well riding!!

March Madness

March madness is used in basketball, but honestly, read a teacher's schedule for the month and we just may qualify for the playoffs!!

SO far in March:
March 1st: Drove around 3.5 hours in the car, granted it was from a night off from the kids, but driving is still driving, right?
March 2nd: LONG staff meeting, then pick up the van in the shop
March 3rd: Rush downtown to pick up Lion King tickets (we won them!! Yippee!) and hit the admin bldg for work
March 4th: Seriously, I got a cold today?

On the agenda:
March 6th and 7th: I'm single parenting it, dave is busy with the Watchmen movie , festival and SJ band practice..
Next week: Hubby has band boosters and festival, I"m pretty sure I have some work committment
March 14th: St Pattys Party
March 17th: Hubby plays at the R club
March 18th: I think I'm going out:) I'll need it by then!
March 19th: Lion King!
March 21st: Another party!
March 22nd: Lion King again!!
March 25th: Kindergarten round up , which also means I'll be working on report cards the next 3 weeks!
March 30 and April 1st: conferences
March 31: Emmie's conference..
I KNOW there's more , but I just don't remember right now!@

I think I have a great idea for some new household helpers...

1. A sheet folder. Seriously, I need a machine to fold my fitted sheets. Or one of those cool boards from the Gap. Well, but bigger. How is it when I go to fold my sheet, it's magically grown to 3 times the original size? Are the folders for packaging origami experts?

2. Well this one is for Meijer shopping carts. How about a clipboard to put your list? I'd love to not carry my list and just clip it to the cart, mark off as I go!

Okay, fine, that's it for NOW, but I'll think of more!! Anyone else??

Do the mess, pay the price.....

So my 6 yr old LOVES playing on and collecting webkins.

Today we had plans to go on a short road trip, but the oldest male member of the family got sick, so we stayed home.

Apparently she needed to have school today instead....

Today's very "un Emma like" behaviors...

1. Sprayed about 3 gallons of cleaner on the kitchen table....it's Mrs. Meyer's and has quite the strong scent, plus you know how well 6 yr olds scrub so it left quite the streaks...

2. Emma asked to eat a hershey bar as a snack. NO problem. Then she asked for a 2nd (these were full sized). I said no. About 20 min later I found her sneaking one. To the bedroom my princess....

3. As I was going downstairs to let the dog out I smelled an unfamiliar (yet pleasant ) scent, it was VERY strong....She had gone into the bathroom and got out the spray sunscreen and sprayed it ALL over.

What happens then? Well you might slip and fall, cause it is SUPER slippery. Maybe she was preparing for some sort of sock races, not sure. I made her get paper towel slightly wet with water to clean our wood (okay laminate) floors so no one fell to their death.

4. While cleaning she starting to "sprinkle" water on the floor. I told her to NOT do this , and of course she didn't listen...

So what results from this poorly thought out day??

None of this:

Or this:

or this:

However, there will be lots of reading in her room......

Ewww...ick...ewww...

Seriously, wiggly front teeth are just plain gross.
I mean, as a kid I LOVE wiggling teeth, but seeing my own 6 yr old pushing her BIG front tooth straight out , ewwwwwwwww..
Just gross I say!

NOW I know!!

So I wondered why "Siouxsan says" just flowed into my mind as a title..
Here's why:
My husband was in a band back a few years ago and one song was "Beauty says". Great fun song, and reminds me of Siouxsan says!!

Besides I like to talk, A LOT!!

We hope she can...we hope she can.....

Seriously, what parent likes spending money on a 6 yr old (and a 3 yr for that matter) for nighttime pull ups?
At $17 a month for each kid, I'm ready to be done.
Here's what weird:
My 6 year old is a very deep sleeper. Yet there were 2 periods during her short life in which she didn't wet the bed. From about 2 1/2 to nearly 3, she was in underwear at night, no problems. Then when we moved to our new house, the wetting started again. Once she started full day Kindergarten, she stopped wetting the bed. Once late November came around, the wetting began again and has not stopped.

A good friend lent us a bedwetting alarm. I started her last night. I didn't sleep well at all, but she slept all night and was dry. Ahh..the small successes in life!
Tonight is day 2, we'll see how that works, and who wakes up!
Wish us luck, it's a long road ahead!

Whatttt??? A blog just for me?? Whohoooo!!!

Seriously, a blog for me..I'm very excited!!

There's so much to say....and so long to say it!!
I'm watching Icarly with the 6 yr old, and I actually like it...
Yes, I'm a 38 yr old watching I carly! It's actually funny , or so I think..

I was just thinking that I have some odd memories from life. So I think my odd ramblings will make their way here:)
